Things to See and Do
One of the highlights of the year is the the Bute Live Music and Arts Festival, our island comes alive as thousands of fans of Jazz and Folk music swell the population and the gigs and celebrations carry on 'til the wee small hours!
The Highland Games are a marvellous spectacle, as kilts whirl, bands play and tossed cabers sail through the air!
Mount Stuart House & Gardens
The present house was commissioned and inspired by the 3rd Marquess of Bute (1847-1900) along with the Scottish architect, Robert Rowand Anderson. This amazing gothic edifice reflects the artistic, religious and astrological interests of the 3rd Marquess and the profusion of stained glass and marble is breathtaking. The house stands in 300 acres of landscaped policies established by the 3rd Earl of Bute (1713-1792), who advised on the setting up of the botanical gardens at Kew in London.
there is plenty of other things to see and do including Ascog Hall Fernery & Gardens, Rothesay Castle, The Winter Garden, Sailing, Cycling, Watersports, Angling and Isle of Bute Classic Car Rally Tour,
