Opinion : A favorite amongst sailors, Port o' Leith is truly worth the find. The legendary bar is full of all the good things you can imagine - music, food, drink, nice people, a welcoming atmosphere and great DJs (Fri/Sat night). The pub has a nautical decor with very fine amenities to boast of. Quoted rightly as a "port in the storm", the Port o' Leith is a pub where the party always looks never-ending. Till 12.45am.

Opinion: Part of the chain, when it comes to decor, few on the planet ever beat Bennet's . What makes this place tick is the decent food in a lovely atmosphere. The pub brings back the era and ambiance of Cafe Royal and is famous for its understated elegance. Till 12.30am Mon-Fri, 1am Sat, 11pm Sun.

Opinion: Located on the borderline of dead dockland, off the seafield road, The Pond is a pub which comes upto the mark. It gets its name from "the water feature" at the potio in the rear. A nice eclectic decor. The bottled European lagers are a specialty here. Till 1am.

Opinion: An aficionados of folky/traditional music, this small pub tends to many customers, most of them who are in there for the sake of its music.Situated close to the university, a majority of its clientele comprise of students and academics.Another feather in its cap is that the sandy bells has seen the growth of many well-known bands in Scotland over the past years. 7days till 1am (Sun 11pm)

Opinion: One of the longest celebrated pubs in the town of Edinburgh.And so also, one of the best places to be seen drinking and eating in. It is the food that counts here and you can sample a taste of some real lip-smacking lobsters, bisque and fresh oysters.The entire pub repletes with Victorian elegance. Open to 11pm (more later at weekends)

Opinion: A true real pub atmosphere. A motley of cocktails and bottled beers,(sorry-no cask ales).One of Edinburgh's great delights for Mex-style food. Everything about it is Mexican to the core, right from food with a typical Mexican emphasis to the waiters in Hawaiian shirts.Mainly popular for retaining 'an old school feel'.Till 1am daily.

Opinion: A hot spot for those who love real beer. Another favorite is the grub at lunchtime, where one is served traditional and homely food with an equally enticing smell. The pub which looks more like a cottage from the outside is often flooded with beer freaks. There is no doubt of the fact that it is the quality of beer and the etiquette service which brings in loyal customers from all over Edinburgh to this little pub. Until 11.45pm (11pm Sun)

Opinion: Robbie's has a well known reputation and falls under the category of a boozer of the working class type. Distinguished for its befitting range of beer over the past decades,this popular old pub was recently refurbished.Its fetching though essentially plainish. Till 12midnight Mon-Sat, 11pm Sun.

Opinion: City Cafe has an assorted range of vodka and rum. They even have a pool table, owing to the American diner-style booth and leather banquettes. The pub caters for a diverse range of tastes with their cask ales, cocktails, imported beers and a long list of the choicest wines.Tasty, filling and simple food served all-day long. 11am-1am daily.

Opinion: The Three Sisters is proudly one of Edinburgh's busiest pubs. Out of the many thriving bars in the Cowgate, this pub is the one which is in the spotlight.The large pub has a massive outdoor courtyard.Good music is played at the myriad of themed (Irish, US and Gothic) bar areas within the pub.Fun place to be in! 7days, 11am-1am.

International cuisine in an extraordinary atmosphere.Polite and experienced staff.The weather being favorable, the pub has a 'Garden' patio bar at back. Opinion: The Doric is more of a bistro/restaurant than just a mere pub.Through the window tables at the pub, you can get a slice of the characteristic Edinburgh gentility. From early 2008, this pub is in the hands of new owners. The pub is situated on the south side of Market Street.
