Edinburgh Castle as Conference & Reception Venue

Dominating one of the most famous skylines in Europe, Edinburgh Castle is a magnificent place, rich in history and home to some of Scotland's most important national treasures, including the Scottish Crown Jewels and the Stone of Destiny. Here at the heart of the city are a range of Venues which can host small gatherings in the Gatehouse Suite or dinners for up to 100 in the Jacobite Room. Special evening receptions can be arranged for up to 1000 guests, which throws the castle open in its entirety. From April 2004, the facilities for corporate events at Edinburgh Castle will be greatly enhanced with the completion of the refurbishment programme in the Queen Anne Building.

Private Tours
Historic Scotland offer private preopening tours of Edinburgh Castle which allows groups to enjoy an exclusive viewing of all the Castle's highlights including the Scottish Crown Jewels, the Great Hall and the Royal Apartments. The visit can be combined with breakfast in the Castle. During the day, a tour of Edinburgh Castle can be enhanced with a private lunch or afternoon tea in the Gatehouse Suite or Queen Anne Building.

Evening Openings
For larger groups fro 250 to 1000 people, the whole castle can be hired for a drinks reception. Guests have exclusive access to the Castle's highlights including the Great Hall, the Royal Apartments, The Castle Vaults and the Scottish Crown Jewels. Drinks and canapes will be served throughout the Castle. Crown square provides a perfect amphitheater for speeches.

Meetings
In partnership with our in-house caterer, Historic Scotland offer a flexible day delegate package which includes a range of AV equipment and Edinburgh Castle stationery.

The Jacobite Room
The Jacobite Room offers a contemporary setting within an 18th Century building. Guests attending a dinner in this Venue will have magnificent views over Princess Street. Pre-dinner drinks can be held on the Castle battlements or in the Redcoat Room which adjoins the Jacobite Room. Drinks receptions for up to 250 can be held using both rooms. An exclusive tour of the Honours of Scotland exhibition, which houses the Scottish Crown Jewels and the Stone of Destiny, is included in the evening hire of Edinburgh Castle.

The Queen Anne Building
The Queen Anne Building is situated at the heart of the Castle in Crown Square. Reopened in April 2004 after a refurbishment programme and offers a dedicated facility for daytime and evening events. Pre-dinner drinks can be held in the Castle Vaults, creating a very atmospheric event. For meetings and presentations, the main room can be divided to give an additional small breakout area and includes ISDN lines and blackout facilities.

The Gatehouse Suite
The 19th century Gatehouse Suite situated at the entrance to the Castle offers an ideal Venue for receptions or buffets for small groups. There are 2 adjoining rooms and a private terrace area overlooking the Royal Mile.

Christmas Packagesl
Superb festive packages are available at both Edinburgh and Stirling Castles during December. If you are looking for an unusual Venue to entertain clients or enjoy a company celebration in December both Castles provide an exclusive setting for a very memorable event.

Cancellation Policy:

APPLIES
In the event of cancellation of any booking by the client after written confirmation received, the client shall pay Historic Scotland a cancellation fee calculated as follows:

a)The total charge if notice received less than 14 days prior to the date of the event.

b) If notice is received more than 14 days in advance, the deposit paid is non-refundable and will act as the cancellation fee.

A 50% non-refundable deposit is required upon confirmation of the booking. If the booking is made over 1 year before the event a non-refundable 25% will be required with further 25% required 6 months in advance. The booking will not be considered to be fully confirmed until the deposit has been received. The remainder of the fee will be invoiced after the event. Historic Scotland reserves the right to request full payment in advance of an event.
