Customer Reviews of Maxwellheugh Cottage, Kelso - Sleeps 8
st comment: The weather was absolutely perfect - the best weather in Scotland in 100 years. The gardens were in full Spring bloom and we enjoyed the outdoor spaces. There is a little bit of road noise with the bedroom windows open but there isn’t much traffic in Kelso at night. We had a toddler with us and the enclosed garden was perfect for his exploring. The location is very central to exploring Sir Walter Scott country and the various abbeys. Kelso’s Saturday market is small but has some lovely fresh items and the Sainsburys is only 1/2 mile from the house-the pantry had lots of staples-check before you buy. Lovely meals at the Roxburghe Hotel, Ednam House Hotel (outside along the river) and the Cobbles Inn. Also enjoyed Hazels Tea Room with an outside eating area off the main street. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. We left a travel cot & highchair for future visitors with small children. We couldn’t find the W/C on the ground floor (it was off the conservatory). Internet access with our Three chip was impossible so we had to find places with WiFi. May 2012.
nd comment: This cottage is in a wonderful position for a walk into Kelso and for exploring the Borders. We loved everything about the cottage and hope to return. April 2012.
rd comment: Excellent location within Kelso including wonderful views of Flors castle and the river Tweed from bedrooms and the garden. The resident peacock was an unusual and welcome surprise. March 2012.
th comment: Property was very comfortable and clean. There is a huge supermarket only a five minute walk away and 10 minutes the other direction you are in Kelso town. I’ts a great location for exploring the borders and Edinburgh and the surrounding areas. Feb 2012.
