Customer Reviews of Firth Cottage, Cromarty Firth - Sleeps 4

"Alcaig Cottages"

3 of 5 stars

The cottage was in a beautiful position and very nicely presented. Unfortunately, it was described as dog friendly, which was why we booked it as we have a dog. Perhaps we misunderstood something, but we found on arrival that the dog couldn't be exercised in the garden and the "shared woodland gardens" were behind a fence and appeared not to be accessible, although I had a good look around. The floors inside the property were slippery so the dog had difficulty walking. Had we not had the dog with us, we would have found the property very pleasant, but as it was we didn't feel at all relaxed and, to be honest, we have stayed in nicer places that have been better value for money. Nb there was no washing line.

"Fantastic views and wonderful owners"

5 of 5 stars

We were greeted by the owner who ensured that we had everything we needed. She left us a personalised welcome card and gifts of wine and homemade shortbread. She was always available if needed but never obtrusive. The accommodation was fresh and clean and the furniture was more than adequate. The views over the Cromarty Firth were breathtaking and we benefitted from stunning sunsets as well as sunrises. This was a very peaceful place to spend our week and we found lots to keep ourselves occupied. We appreciated the wildlife around us and even sighted a red kite. We felt that the owner could not have done more to make us feel welcome and at home.

"Well equipped, comfortable cottage"

5 of 5 stars

Renovated about 3 years ago, I'd stayed before. Well placed for travelling to SW and W into mountains, but also in middle of gentler countryside. Just needs a few more saucepans and fewer colanders!
