Knockdolian Estate is situated amidst lush green pastures in peaceful unspoilt countryside with the River Stinchar flowing through a picturesque sloping valley. The landscape is dominated by Knockdolian Hill and on either side of the river bank there are mature woodlands. The Estate offers excellent salmon and sea trout fishing (July to October) on its own stretch of the River Stinchar (ghillie services are available on request) and also shooting in season (Oct. to January) for pheasant, partridge, duck, woodcock and snipe - these activities are subject to availability at an extra charge. Local attractions include the Galloway Forest Park which provides scope for cycling, nature trails and other outdoor activities, Culzean Castle and Country Park is well worth a visit, there is a wonderful sandy beach at Lendalfoot, shopping and sea trips at Girvan and excellent local golf courses including Turnberry. 30 minutes away, Ayr has excellent shopping facilities and indoor attractions for all the family. Shops, pub/hotel 2.5 miles.
Belhamie is a lovely traditional whitewashed stone built farmhouse on a working farm on the estate with its own orchard and private enclosed garden and with lovely views over farmland to the wooded hillside. In springtime, farm tours to see the lambs are popular with children.
The house is well maintained and full of character with surprising nooks and crannies, a great place for children to play hide and seek. The spacious sunny rooms have an informal atmosphere. This comfortable house is ideal for a relaxing family holiday or a gathering of friends and is a warm and welcoming house to return to after a day out in the open air. The services of a cook can be arranged.
