Surrounded by open countryside, it has its own sitting-out area by a little burn. The island is rich in wild flowers, abundant wildlife, historic buildings and ruins including a broch, Viking Castle, Bishops’ Palace and former Cathedral of the Isles. This rural location is perfect for walking, cycling, loch and sea fishing. Besides its own well-stocked island shop, restaurants and shops can be found in Port Appin (a 5-minute passenger ferry trip), which also gives easy access to riding at Lettershuna, sailing at Linnhe Marina and the new golf course at Ballachulish.
