Tillicoultry lies 9 miles to the east of Stirling at the foot of the Ochil hills, in the county of Clackmannanshire. It is about 35 miles from Glasgow, 40 miles from Edinburgh. It is on the A91 Stirling, St. Andrews road. If forms the third of the four "Hillfoots Villages" of Clackmannanshire, lying to the East of Menstrie and Alva and to the West of Dollar. Alloa the county town lies 4 miles to the South - west on the banks of the Forth. The seal used by Tillicoultry Town Council up till 1972 was "Tullich-cul-tir" and signifies "the mound at the back of the hill". The seal is still used to-day by Tillicoultry Community Council. Hill walking is very popular in the glen on the Ochil Hills both by visitors and locals alike. Tillicoultry attracts visitors every day to "Sterling" and "Sterling Mills". In the village you will find Hotels, Pubs, Hairdresser, Fish & Chip Bar, Chinese/Indian take-a-ways, Supermarket, Bank, Post Office, Golf, Art & Craft, Food, Paper Shop, Beauty Salon, Coffee Shop, Tyres/Exhausts and much more. The population of Tillicoultry estimated is 5,404 and for Clackmannanshire 47,680.
