Countdown to a global climate deal - European Green action

Countdown to the Copenhagen climate conference.

The clock is counting to combat climate change. The world's leaders have committed to agree an international climate deal at the UNFCCC meeting in Copenhagen (COP15) in December 2009. With this in mind the climate change campaign of the EGP and the Greens/EFA group has launched an online email action, which enables members of the public to send a message to their environment ministers to ask them to prioritise a global climate deal. The launch of the action coincides with this year's penultimate meeting of the UNFCCC in Poznan (COP14) and the related EGP common action.

Scottish Public Demand Tougher Climate Change Law

Stop Climate Change

21,000 people responded to the Scottish Government's consultation on climate change legislation, with most arguing for a significantly tougher approach than the SNP's current proposals. Only a very small number backed the SNP case against annual targets, and a large majority shared the Green view that all greenhouse gases to be included, not just CO2. Greens have also argued against "buying our way out of change", and in this area there was strong support for limits on the use of international carbon credits.
