This website aims to help you find your way around the program of activities we offer here at the Glasgow Buddhist Centre. You can also find out a bit about us, who we are and what we teach.

Over the festive period we are closed from Thurs 18 December 08 at 5.30pm and re-open on Tuesday 6 January 09 at 12.30pm. Come and visit us then.

 

 

New classes and courses in Meditation and Buddhism start regularly throughout the year.  These classes are open to everyone: you don’t need to be a Buddhist to benefit from them. We run morning and evening classes.

Introduction to meditation Day 10 Jan 09
Suitable for those completely new to meditation.
Saturday 10.30pm - 4.30pm £30/£20

 

Essentials of meditation 20 Jan 09
A thorough introduction to sitting posture and the two main foundation practises of Meditation. Suitable for those completely new to meditation.
Tuesday 7.30pm- 9.30pm for 6 weeks £63/£32

 


Essentials of Buddhism 21 Jan 09
An introduction to suitable for those completely new to Buddhism,
giving a clear account of the foundations of Buddhism.
Also includes an introduction to meditation.
Wednesday 7.30pm- 9.30pm for 6 weeks £63/£32

Regulars Drop in Meditation
For anyone familiar with the practices of metta bhavana and the mindfulness of breathing. Keep up your meditation in the company of others with this led session.No need to book, just come along and join in.

        Yoga Class led Jinavamsa

 

 

The centre is a favorite venue for those seeking Yoga or Taiji instruction. We offer classes after work, evenings and mornings.

Our programme of weekend events ranges from arts events through to bodywork and life skills workshops.

You’ll find us at 329 Sauchiehall Street (opposite the dental hospital) on the first floor with stairway access. The centre is on all on one level and is light and airy – quite a different feel to the bustle and noise of Sauchiehall Street! If you have a disability and would like to visit us or attend a course, please contact us to check our facilities.

You can also download an application form and post it to the centre with a deposit cheque. However If possible please send full payment for the course or event as this helps us with the administration of bookings.

Reiki Level 1
with Heather Forrest.
For those who already have a reiki1 certificate this course passes on a second attunement and enables participants to become practitioners.

Tracing a journey through time.
with Bodhiccha
A repeat of this gentle and supportive workshop exploring our past lives. We will learn to open a meditative pathway back in time and undertake
several journeys, enabling us to deepen our understanding of our present successes and difficulties. (please note there is no hypnosis used.)

Alexander Technique with Michal Segal

The Alexander technique is a simple and practical method for self-improvement.  The teacher uses gentle manual guidance to assist in becoming ware of unnecessary tension.

A workshop to help us take a creative approach to our stress so we finish the day with a toolkit of stress-busting resources, feeling more energised and confident.
