Welcome to Plockton . . .
. . . in the North West Highlands of Scotland, an untamed land of sea and loch, mountain and glen — magnificent in its grandeur and remote tranquility . . .
. . . and on the western seaboard, our village of Plockton, in an incomparable location on a sheltered bay of Loch Carron, surrounded by a bowl of hills.
This peaceful Highland community in the Gaelic heartland was
once based on fishing and crofting.
It now draws artists and photographers from all over the world, and those who seek something different, something less packaged.
A National Trust conservation village, Plockton has carefully preserved its heritage, while offering outstanding hospitality in its hotels and bed & breakfasts.
We hope this site will give you a taste of what we have, but nothing can do more justice to our village than seeing it in person. We look forward to your visit.

- Alasdair Bruce
- After a long illness, which he bore with fortitude and grace, Alasdair was laid to rest on Thursday 16 October 2008.
- The funeral service in the Plockton Old Kirk was led by the Reverend John Murdo MacDonald. The kirk was as full as anyone can recall, with many standing in the aisles and the upper gallery. Alasdair's life in Plockton was remembered — his time as owner of the Plockton Hotel, his involvement in sailing and community life, including this website, but most of all, his generosity of spirit and his humour. A tribute was given by Dave McGhee.
- After the service, we gathered outside the kirk in the traditional way and followed as the coffin was borne to the hearse. We went on to Balmacara cemetery.
- By the beautiful lochside setting, with showers and sunshine, Alasdair was interred. Dougie Pincock played a moving piobaireachd, turning at the end and walking away, and the pipes faded.
- And we bear witness also to the sad passing this year of Lawrence Williamson, Richard Peach and Murdo MacRae.
