Welcome to Shetland Trout Fishing
The Shetland Islands are the most northerly islands of the United Kingdom. Shetland has a fairly mild climate and has a consitant temperatute throughout the summer months.
Shetland is made up of about one hundred small Islands. The angler will be interested in the largest six islands Yell, Unst, Fetlar, Whalsay, Bressay and mainland Shetland.
One advantage for the angler is the long hours of daylight known as the simmer dim. In mid summer there is no proper darkness and the angler can fish throughout the night.
Fishing in Shetland comprises of brown trout, sea trout, salmon and the occasional char. There are many different types of fishing available: Fly Fishing, Bait Fishing, Spinning, Bank Fishing, Boat Fishing and Float Tubing.
The angler can travel to Shetland either by sea or by air. Northlink Ferries provide a passanger boat service from Aberdeen to Shetland. You can travel to Shetland via any one of the ten major UK airports. Public transport is limited on the island but there are car hire services available on the island from Bolts car Hire, Star Rent a Car and Grantfield Garage in the main town, lerwick.
