Description  :Set close to the impressive and historic Balvenie Castle, the distillery was founded in 1887 by William Grant of Glenfiddich, and has remained in the Grant family ever since. The distillery uses water from the Robbie Dhu springs, and has 28 stills. This was the first distillery to open a visitor centre, and has over 100,000 visitors a year. Glenfiddich is the only Highland single malt Scotch whisky to be distilled, matured and bottled at its own plant. The 18-Year-Old Ancient Reserve has a rounded, mellow flavour. Tours cover the whisky-making process at its various stages, and a free dram is included. There is an audio-visual presentation about the history and manufacture of whisky and the heritage of the Highlands ? plus a Scotch whisky display.
