Dundee is Scotland’s fourth largest city and home to around 145,000 people. Situated by the River Tay, Dundee is 60 miles north of Edinburgh and 67 miles south of Aberdeen. The landscape is a mix of mountains, rolling hills, and shoreline.
The City of Discovery title is taken from Captain Scott’s famous Antarctic exploration vessel. The ship is now berthed at Discovery Quay, a beautiful waterfront setting overlooking the River Tay and the Tay rail and road bridges.
Dundee has two universities, The University of Dundee and The University of Abertay.It also has the distinction of being within reach of the world’s finest golf courses in St Andrews and Carnoustie. Dundee is also a great destination fro those interested in angling.
Dundee has a lot to offer a visitor to the city. These include theatre, music, dance, museums, galleries and historical buildings. One of them, the Broughty Castle and Museum was a 15th Century coastal fort. It is now used as a museum of local history and wildlife. Discovery Point is one of the main attractions in Dundee - this ship was built in Dundee to take Captain Scott to Antarctica.
