This was my first visit to Edinburgh and The George, which is perfectly located for just about everything - Princes Street shopping, The Waverly bridge tourist buses (best way to see the city), lovely Dunbar St with its art galleries and antiques, and a short walk to the Castle and also the Royal Mile.

Stayed for 2 nights and were very well looked after. I'm, too, not sure it's a "boutique" hotel, but our room (Exec double) was excellent and the bathroom was superb. Looking onto the roof garden too was lovely. Bet it's fab in summer. The staffs were not very Scottish, but very attentive and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Location is excellent.

The Macdonald Holyrood Hotel is a great place to stay for a break in Edinburgh. The staffs are incredibly friendly and always willing to help. The hotel has a great restaurant - you must try the handcut chips and steak! Rooms are comfortable and clean and we enjoyed a few hours down in the spa chilling out!

We paid £144 for 3 nights for a double room and felt this was good value for money. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk to the centre and the Royal Mile. However the no 34 bus takes you straight to Princes St and the bus stop is round the corner from the hotel, however we preferred to walk as the weather was excellent for April! Our room was a decent size with a slightly larger bathroom than the other couple we were staying with. Breakfast is excellent with a good choice of cereal, fruit, and yogurt right through to a delicious English breakfast. We occupied the hotel cafe most evenings after our night out and the staff were always most helpful, the cafe has a reasonable priced bar. For a two star hotel the Herald House is comfortable and good value for money.

We have been going to Craig highland farm for 11 years. The scenery is stunning. Even though we stayed in one of the lodges, we could always manage company with other lodgemates. And the facilities are good and the staffs were friendly.

We were there for 4 nights and had a wonderful stay. Our double room was very spacious. Our daughter's single room was cozy (a little small) but very functional. Breakfast was plentiful. Great location with a kind of long walk into town but there's a bus stop right outside the door. We bought the all day passes for easy on/off. I'd absolutely stay there again and will recommend it to friends. The Filling Station on the Royal Mile is a great place for dinner, drinks or dessert and Gordon's Tratoria serves excellent pasta.

I and my boyfriend stayed at this hostel for two nights at the start of the month and it was fabulous. The location was brilliant as it is a quiet road but only a 5 minute walk to the end of Princes Street and 2 minutes to Haymarket Station. We got a great price booking through late rooms... This hostel is a perfect base for all backpackers and international travelers wishing to explore Scotland's capital.
