For all of us there is a time when we have to stay close to the airport because of an early flight out. Unlike London or other major cities, Edinburgh is so confined that driving to the airport is relatively painless. However, if you need to say close to the airport, this is our selection of hotels close to Edinburgh Airport. All offer online booking with immediate confirmation of your reservation.

These hotels have all been selected because they are relatively close to Edinburgh airport for visitors who need to stay close to the airport for their early or late departures/arrivals.

If you are looking for something a little more up market in Edinburgh, you can also check out:

  • Hilton Edinburgh Airport I could make it up and tell you this is a stunning charming hotel with scenic views. It is of course an airport hotel with easy access to the terminal and a striking lack of charm.
  • Marriott Edinburgh Airport Hotel - about 1.5 miles away from the airport towards Edinburgh. Typical European Marriott hotel. Seems to do a roaring trade in weddings in the summer months.
  • Norton House - the smartest of all the airport hotels. About 1 mile to the west and superficially a country style hotel. Definately upmarket and possessed of some charm
  • Quality Hotel - the typical airport hotel and this one even has a view of the runway. If you want to watch the 0600 Easyjet to Luton, this is the ideal spot. Thick glass ensures that you sleep through roaring GEC turbines warming up.
  • Agenda Hotel - further away and not strictly an airport hotel, but set in the charmless Corstorphine, it is an easy hike to the terminal by bus stopping outside or by taxi. Good bar!
  • Dakota Forth Road Bridge

Frequently Asked Questions About Staying near Edinburgh Airport

Do I need to stay in an Edinburgh Airport Hotel? This is a matter of predeliction rather than practicality. Look at this way: try getting to Gatwick or Heathrow from the centre of London for an early flight - madness! Edinburgh isn't like that. There is a bus lane that runs all the way from the centre to the airport and ensures that the Edinburgh shuttle bus takes 25 minutes any time of day. So you could stay at the Balmoral or Scotsman Hotel and simply walk from the hotel to the bus station on Waverley Bridge. So you could stay pretty much anywhere within Edinburgh without too much trouble unless the flight really is crack of dawn. However if you have a little deviant fetish for cruddy four and three star hotels chock a block full of regional sales managers, hey why not. Go for it. The best for that is the Hilton Edinburgh Airport; what Conrad Hilton would have thought of it, god only knows. It started life as a Stakis when Edinburgh was a provincial little airport serviced by BEA or BA and none of the big shots wanted to locate near the airport. Today the Stakis Chain has disappeared and the hotel has been rebadged as a Hilton.

For visitors who like to plane spot, the choice has to be the Edinburgh Airport Quality Inn which actually overlooks the runway. Imagine breakfast whilst watching the Czech airlines early flight set off for Prague - the romance of it.

Do any of the hotels have courtesy coaches to the airport? Hilton, Quality Inn, Marriott all have courtesy coaches to transport you from the chaos of the terminal to calm of their lounges (I am making the last bit up) and back again. Telephones at the arrivals area allow you to contact the hotels to call their charabanc.

Isn't it very noisy? Not especially. The airport is not allowed to fly through out the night and none of the hotels are under the flight path. First flight departs around 6 am and there is some jet warming up as well. However all the hotels have super good sound baffling and in the case of Norton House, the hotel is located 2 miles away from the airport.
