All the emphasis at Le Monde is on design and making money at the bar which is really what the hotel is all about - liensing. The rooms are fun and quite original, but sadly service seems to be letting Le Monde down with a chorus of complaints about quality since summer 2007.
If what you want is a fun cool place to stay with a lot of booze on tap: this is perfect. If you seek elegance with service, stay elsewhere. The bar is "rammed" at the weekends and George Street is similarly busy so noise from passing drunks is not uncommon.
What to know about the Le Monde Hotel in Edinburgh:
Dublin and Paris seem to be favourites with Barcelona out of favour as well as St Petersburg. Beware of the noise from the bar as they empty the bottles at the end of the night (or throughout the night).
Bring a sense of humour: staff training seems to be at a discount at the Le Monde.
Here's our take: laugh and enjoy the bar and club and go to bed really late!
