Skim a stone more than three times and you too could be a world champion in this weirdest and most charming of competitions.

The rules are simple: skim a specially shaped Easdale slate skimming stone so that it bounces more than three times and if your's is the longest throw/skim then you are the world champion. Makes the Olympic 100 metres seem small fry, eh!

Easdale is the smallest Hebridean island with a permanent population. It was once a centre for slate quarrying. That is history now but the old quarry is the perfect home for stone skimming. See website below for travel details
