Named after an island to the northwest of Maywick, Havra is a very old croft cottage that possibly dates back to the 1650s or before . Sleeps 2

Havra is well placed away from urban light pollution to appreciate the attractions of Shetland including the magnificent display of natural light, the Aurora Borealis and offers by far the best chance of seeing them in the UK. Fresh seafood delicacies made from fresh fish and shellfish direct from the boat are the specialty of Havra.

"You really have thought everything out so well - making Havra a very welcoming & friendly place to stay. You have been very generous with everything - lovely touches like the handwash & bathroom toiletries. Everything is up to a very high standard, with careful thought to the needs of visitors, especially those who travel 'light'.


"The smoked salmon was a lovely touch(thank you!). Perhaps you could supply a list of goods you sell in your 'Hand made fish' business. However your main problem is that you undersell yourselves! 

*Dramatic Scenery, panoramic views, sweeping views of coast & islands. 
*Few minutes walk to beautiful little beach. 
*Cliff walks - seabirds, puffins of course, seals bobbing about too. 
*Easy access to airport & Lerwick & whole of South Mainland, yet tucked away in a tranquil position. 
*Cottage equipped to a high standard. 

"This traditional cottage retains many original features and has a cosy & homely feel to it. You enter into a light, sunny lobby area with comfortable chairs. The main living area has a wood burning stove (extra logs available), with TV, video, stereo system & loads of videos, games & books, two large sofas (one a double sofa bed). The main bedroom with double bed & bedside tables & large storage is off this. 

"A light corridor leads to the kitchen diner with fully fitted kitchen with gas hob, electric fan assisted oven, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, microwave, toaster & kettle. There is a dining table & chairs. From there you go to the bathroom with separate shower. There is an airing cupboard and storage area well-equipped with vaccuum cleaner, clothes airer, travel cot & changing mat. The whole cotttage has wooden floors & storage heaters throughout.
There is ample off-road parking."
