WHODUNIT?

Lynsey Stewart reports on Murder Mystery party nights. But was it the butler?

It could be a scene from Agatha Christie. The room is buzzing with the sound of chattering people, when suddenly the lively atmosphere is cut silent. A guest slumps to the floor. What has happened? Why has it happened? And, most importantly, whodunit?

It's just part of the entertainment on a murder and/or mystery weekend.

For the past eight years, Winnock Hotel in Loch Lomond has been successfully running such weekends. And you don't need to be as clued-up as Clouseau or as cunning as Poirot to take part. The only prerequisites are a love of fun and mystery. The nights take on many guises and every plot is different.

Take the Authentic Whodunit Murder Mystery - this regular night is designed particularly with supersleuths in mind. You have to help the detective question the suspects, examine the evidence and decide whodunit. It may sound straightforward, but as with every mystery there are lots of twists and unexpected events.

There are also themed murder mystery nights such as The Grease Reunion Party Night, when Rydell High School class of 57 gets together at a special celebration dance. Sandy, Danny, Frenchie, Rizzo and the gang are all there and the party is in full swing when, BANG!, the proceedings come to an abrupt stop. A great party night with plenty of Fifties music.

There's also a Charlie’s Angels Murder Night. The elusive Charlie is (finally) ready to meet his adoring public. All the invited guests have gathered awaiting his arrival, when something goes horribly wrong. This is a fun night with murder, mayhem and a Seventies disco.
Starstruck Murder Karaoke is the one for all frustrated pop stars. It will be murder (in more ways than one) but things are bound to go with a bang.

Events can also be taken outside the venue to offices or castles
Prices range from £27.50 for the themed nights to £65.00 for the authentic whodunit murder mystery.
