Gordon’s Trattoria

Gordon’s Trattoria
231 High Street
Royal Mile
Edinburgh

Imagine a cross between a New York deli, a Glasgow chippy and a Tuscan restaurant and you’ll have Gordon’s Trattoria, a larger than life Italian diner bang in the middle of Edinburgh’s Royal Mile.

But despite occupying such a prime spot it exudes the kind of cosy, familial charm that you’d expect from a good independent Italian eaterie in a more secluded locale.

It also happens to be open until 2am on weekdays and 3am at weekends and, as such, is the late-night revellers’ friend and the ideal for festival critics to have a post-show chat.

The front-half of the restaurant is the deli bit, with a busy take-away food counter adjacent to a row of velvet-covered, high-backed booths complete with their own art deco wall-mirrors reminiscent of a Sixties cafe after a night at the "Locarno"!

The other half is the restaurant proper and has a warm, friendly atmosphere and an extensive menu to match.

All your Italian favourites are here, as well as a few Scottish options and the restaurant will allow you to mix and match to suit your taste, making the whole experience more personal.

Being based in the middle of one of the UK’s most prestigious addresses doesn’t affect Gordon’s prices and a good three-course meal with wine will come in at around 20 with set menu lunches and dinners also available.
