Sherbrooke Castle Hotel, 11 Sherbrooke Av (Tel: 4274227), www. sherbrooke.co.uk is a small hotel (25 rooms) with a bit more character than the chains. It's a good base for exploring the attractions of the south side as it's only about a mile from the Burrell collection.
Boswell Hotel, 27 Mansionhouse Rd, (Tel: 6329812). Just to the south of Queen's Park, off Langside Rd. Lively and informal hotel better known for its excellent pub where you can hear live folk and jazz.
