Auchencairn

Auchencairn

Auchencairn is a tiny hamlet in the southwest corner of Scotland known as Dumfries and Galloway. It is on the A711 coast road from Dalbeattie to Kirkcudbright. Though this region is less frequented by tourists it has its share of mountains, abbeys and castles. Close to the Solway coast, with its long indented coastline of sheltered sandy coves this area is also called the Scottish Riviera. It is the warmest southernmost stretch in Scotland and is an area of unspoiled hills, cliffs, islands, bays and beaches.

Galloway is associated with Robert the Bruce and Dumfries was made famous by Robert Burns, who spent most of his life here. Castle Douglas is one of the neighbouring towns.
