Consult The List for the latest information. Most of the clubs listed are in the Old Town and most are open till 0300 (later during the Festival). All of the venues are open from between 1000-1030 to 0300 (Festival and Xmas/New Year till 0500). Standard charges are from £8-10 for members and £10-13 for non-members.

La Belle Angele 11 Hasties Cl. Underground venue situated up one of the closes leading from the Cowgate. Alternates Sat between trance/house night 'Atomic Baby' and funky/deep house night 'Ultra Groove', flyers in most of the pre-club bars will let people know exactly what is on.

Club Mercado 36-39 Market St. There are 2 sides to this venue, on a Fri from 1700 onwards its TFI Friday night is the most popular post work venue for the city's office workers and half price drinks are served till 2000 to a backdrop of Wham, Abba, young secretaries and leering bosses. Not for the faint hearted. On Sat it is a club venue alternating between the funky/commercial 'Eye Candy' and the house night 'Blast'. Suns are fairly popular with the camp/kitsch night Tackno.

The Venue 17-23 Calton Rd. Situated at the east side of the city centre, recently refurbished and under new management it hosts nights such as 'Up' and 'Cerotonin'.

Studio 24 24-26 Calton Rd. At opposite end of the street to The Venue. Falling to pieces but nevertheless has good atmosphere and splits in to 2 separate venues (upstairs and downstairs) on fortnightly Sat for 'Oxygen' a gay friendly hard house night and 'Mingin' a very gay trance/techno night run by the 'Joy' team, the other weekends are usually rock nights for grungeys and goths or the occasional fetish/rubber night so check what's on before going.

The Honeycomb 15 Niddry St. Much-vaunted attempt to house an Edinburgh superclub, formerly known as 'The Vaults' allegedly £100 mn has been spent on its refurbishment and it hosts 'Sublime' the long running trance/house night, 'It' which is the premises own funky house night and the popular gay friendly nights 'Luvley' which runs the 3rd Sat of every month and 'Taste' which runs every Sun and remains the biggest Sun night Club in Edinburgh.

Ego 14 Picardy Pl. Refurbished casino situated at top of Leith Walk, hosts various club nights, its biggest draws are the long running gay night 'Joy' which runs fortnightly on Sat and 'Vegas' which runs monthly and is frequented by twenty-to-thirty somethings who enjoy spending their Saturday nights dancing to Kenny Rogers, Neil Diamond and Johnny Cash.

Bongo Club 37 Holyrood Road, Old Town, Tel: 5587604 The place has an impressive combination of music, art and clubing. With a peppy ambinace this club offers some fiery club nights full of noise and energy. The loud music and sizzling performers adds more spice to the place. Espinoage 4 India Buildings, Victoria Street, Old Town, Tel: 4777007 Espinoage comforts on the Victoria Street with over five levels, upper level houses the Lizard lounge bar. Citrus Club 40-42 Grindlay Steet, South Edinburgh, Tel: 6227086. This sizzling club is located just off the Lothian Road. The club boasts many thrilling and vibrant night events giving the night a real night treat for all. Open- Wed-Thur-Sat 1100-0300, Fri 1030-0300.
