Where to sleep in Glasgow

Glasgow has a good range of accommodation. Most of the hotels, guest houses, B&Bs and hostels are in the city centre and the West End or south of the river, around Queen's Park.

The best area to find good value mid-range accommodation is the West End, around Kelvingrove Park and the university. This is a good area to stay in, as it's convenient for several of the city's major sights as well as many of the best bars and restaurants.

Glasgow has undergone something of a revolution on the hotel front in recent years and the market is highly competitive.

A large number of big chains have opened up in the city, offering everything from deluxe accommodation to simple low cost lodging - meaning that there are often good deals available to travellers prepared to shop around. The city also has several boutique hotels, offering stylish accommodation with more character than the international chains.

Finding a decent room for the night can be difficult during the major festivals and in July and August and it's best to book ahead at these times.
