Speyside Sleeping Eating
Sleeping & Eating in the Speyside Area
The best place to stay is the superb Craigiellachie Hotel, Tel. 881204.
Also recommended is the Minmore House Hotel, Tel. 01807-590378, minimorehouse@ukonline.co.uk, open May-Oct, 10 miles southwest of Dufftown, in the village of Glenlivet. Right beside the distillery and is the former home of the owner.
Also in Craigiellachie is the Highlander Inn, on Victoria St, Tel./Fax. 881446. Popular and serves decent bar meals.
Not far from Bridge of Avon is a lovely old country house which offers B&B - see Cragganmore House. Highly recommended. Their Turret Room is ideal for a romantic weekend.
There's a fairly wide selection of accommodation in Dufftown itself. Two good B&Bs are Tannoch Brae, Tel. 820541, and Tullich House, Tel. 821008, which also provides dinner.
The new La Faisandarie, Tel. 821273, has a good reputation, book first. Also good is the moderately priced A Taste of Speyside, on Balvenie St, Tel. 820860.
The Fife Arms Hotel, Tel. 820220, on the square does cheap bar meals.
As far as entertainment goes, the Commercial Hotel, Tel. 820313, on Church St has ceilidhs every 2nd Thursday during the summer.
