Achiltiebuie is a picturesque village near Ullapool famous for its Hydroponicum and Smokehouse. The village of Lochinver lies further away. The peaceful location close to Ullapool is an ideal base to explore the North West Highlands which is of geological interest and rich in wildlife – deer, pine marten, otters, seals, eagles and porpoise can be seen.

Places of interest nearby arethe beaches of Camus Mhor where semi precious stones are found, the seal colonies on the rocky ledges at the foot of Ben Mhor Coigach, the ruins of the pictish fort and fish trap at Dun Canna. Sea birds are all around the historic Isle Martin nature reserve once owned by the R.S.P.B. with its many unusual birds which can be found nesting along its cliffs. Gairloch lies to the south of Ullapool and Loch Broom, with its beautiful mountains and lochs.

Fishing, sailing, sandy beaches, hill-walking and mountain climbing are some of the highlights of this region.
