Innerwick Castle

Old ruined 14th century castle that was destroyed in 1548. Open to public


The castle sits on a strategic route sout. The position si dramatic and easily defensible although the advent of cannon and gunpowder made it less so. After its destruction in C16, it was notrebuilt.

The castle can be reached by a Scottish Wildlife Trust managed footpath from Crowhill via the Thornton Burn.

    Private owned beach to east of Dunbar up coast from Tantallon. Half mile beach with tiny harbour, two castles and old house to explore.
