Description  :Standing in a beautiful 400-acre estate high above the River Spey, the Macallan Distillery was officially licensed in 1824. The restored fortified house of Easter Elchies lies at the heart of the site. Estate-grown barley, the smallest stills on Speyside and exclusive maturation in sherry oak casks from Spain combine to create the rich, sherried spice and dried fruit flavour of the Macallan. The distillery can be visited, but by appointment only.
