Laggan
Laggan is approximately 7 miles along the road to Fort William and is situated in the Central Highlands of Scotland, surrounded by the Monadhliath and Grampian mountain ranges. "Monarch of the Glen" was filmed entirely on location in the area.
Laggan is an excellent base for touring by car and an ideal location for all outdoor activities, including fishing in the River Spey and surrounding lochs, hill Walking and mountaineering, Golf with several courses in the area, Pony Trekking and Ski-ing.
The Highland Folk Museum in Kingussie is located on the A86 only 10-15 minutes drive from Laggan. The Ruthven Barracks is also close by on the A9.
The Dalwhinnie distillery the highest in the land is just 10 minutes away while the Blair Atholl is a little further away in the Highland town of Pitlochry.

The village is at the intersection of A86 and the A889 also known as General Wade's Military Road. It is the best way to cross from the A9 to the Western Highlands and Fort William. Access is best by road with the nearest stations at Kingussie or Dalwhinnie if you are coming by train. The location makes it ideal for travelling west or east.
Local Sights & Activities for Laggan
This is a land of walking or hiking, but you are well located for visiting the Speyside area for distilleries or castles. Alternatively you can travel West and north for Loch Ness and the western Highlands around Fort William.
For mountain bikers, there is the Laggan Wolftrax just outside the village T:01463 791575 with 20 miles of purpose built cycling tracks
