Stroll through the Royal Botanic Garden

botanicgarden

The Royal Botanic Gardens, dating back to 1670, are Edinburgh’s most tranquil attraction. There are grand Victorian glass palm houses, 70 acres of landscaped gardens, and a variety of glasshouses sheltering tropical plants and orchids. Take a guided walk (daily; free), or stop for an ice cream at one of the outdoor tables at the Terrace Cafe. If the weather turns, the John Hope Gateway is a new biodiversity and information centre with interactive displays. Find out more at www.rbge.org.uk  Entry: free to the gardens; £4 to the glasshouses (adult), £1 child
