Highland Games in Scotland in August 2016


Brodick Highland Games

One of the most famous events in the island, the Brodick Highland Games have hundred of years’ history. Traditional games including track and field, hammer throwing, caber tossing bring together competitors and spectators from all over.

Abernethy Highland Games

Traditional Highland Games featuring dancing, piping and athletics competitions, heavy contest, caber tossing, massed pipes and drums, 40 mile road race, refreshments and trade stands. Highland Gathering for the Clan Grant.

Lonach Highland Gathering

The 173rd Lonach Highland Gathering is a unique event, with the march of the Lonach Highlanders early in the morning followed by the fun of a traditional Highland Games later in the day. 

Aberlour Strathspey Highland Games

It is one of the Highland games with massed pipe bands, Highland dancing, heavy and light events, haggis hurling, tug of war, stalls, a beer tent and side stalls. Charges for an Adult £5 and for a Child £2.

North Berwick Highland Games

The 19th Local highland games in North Berwick in East Lothian features over 50 world-wide pipe bands, Highland dancers, athletics, heavy events, lots of stalls, children's entertainment, refreshments and famous personalities

Assynt Highland Gathering

Assynt's annual games featuring solo piping, track and field events, Highland dancing, trout and salmon casting, caber tossing, tug o' war and an evening dance.

Perth Highland Games

Perth Highland Games has evolved to be one of the most popular Highland games in Scotland. Some of the traditional events that are featured include throwing the hammer, tossing the caber and Highland dance among others. The pipe band contest is quite popular and attracts many bands including overseas bands.

Glenisla Highland Games

The Hundred and Forty-fourth Annual Glenisla Highland Games for the preservation of the Language, Music, Games and Dress of the Highlands of Scotland will take place on 22nd August 2014.

Nairn Highland Games

Traditional Highland Games with many activities and entertainment, including Highland dancing, pipe contests, heavy events and track and field.
