Hostel Advice for Hostel Neophytes
If you are a hostel expert, stop reading now. For the rest, here is some advice concerning staying in hostels in Scotland. Hostels are fun, public, friendly, raucous and a great place to make friends. Overall, the quality of Scottish hostels is high and the visitors friendly and sympathetic - lots of backpackers, lots of young people moving around. You dont want to stay in a hostel if you want your own room, want peace and quiet or are a very private person: you will be disappointed!
If that is the case, check out out our other accommodation options in Scotland including hotels in Scotland, hotels in Edinburgh, hotels in Glasgow or even cottages or bed and breakfasts around Scotland. Quite a few of our hostels have online booking. For those that do not, we tend to publish contact details so that you can make the arrangements yourself. This tends to apply to YHA style hostels which retain a healthy scepticism about the Internet. More and more hostels now offer smaller rooms rather than the more common dormitories. However, the cost of these is often equivalent to bed and breakfasts.
