Three miles east of Aberdour is Burntisland, once famous for shipbuilding but now more popular as a holiday resort.

Burntisland is famous for its sandy blue flag beach, the 15th century Rossend Castle and the summer fair and Highland games day (reputed to be the second oldest in the world). The place is also known to be Fife's first Fairtrade Town. The Binn, a hill lying to the north of Burntisland is the signpost of the Fife coastline.
