3 Star edinburgh hotel near the Edinburgh main bus station in George's Square. Located on busy street at the top of the Edinburgh New Town. Nothing special and not luxurious but pleasant enough and good location.

A large traditional hotel in a great location near the Royal Mile, and with leisure facilities which include a swimming pool.

Possibly the most prestigious address in Edinburgh. Once a somewhat boring railway hotel, now an acclaimed 5 star hotel in the very epicentre of the city. Lowest priced rooms are a little dark, otherwise beautiful.

The Scotsman Hotel in Edinburgh provokes wildly differing responses from its guests: those who love it and its staff and those who find is tired and lacklustre. For some the Scotsman is the highlight of their trip with particular praise for the concierge who is all knowing about whats on in town. The Scotsman's central location makes it perfect for visitors who plan to browse through Edinburgh.

On the downside, some guests complain of noise from Waverley Station and the 06:50 train announcements as well as hot rooms with dodgy thermostats. Parts of the Scotsman could do with a bit of a makeover.
