Kirkcaldy is known for being the birthplace of the 14th century economist Adam Smith.
If you are visiting the town in mid-April you can be part of the notable Links Market, a week-long funfair, said to be the largest street fair in Britain and which dates back to the fourteenth century.
The Museum and Art Gallery in the War Memorial Gardens is a chronicle of the town's history. You can find everything from archeological discoveries to the local Wemyss Ware pottery here. However, over-development has in a way subdued the charm of the place.
