Ardanaiseig Hotel Kilchrenan

Super romantic hotel hidden away in the little hamlet of Ardanaiseig beside Loch Awe in Argyll. Baronial architecture with very caring service.

Boath House Hotel Nairn

Despite grand proportions, the Grade A-listed Georgian Boath House Hotel has a very friendly and cosy feel to it. It seems the fires are always lit and all the warmly decorated rooms have views over the hotel's 20-acres of  garden. Bedroom No 3 has a canopy bed and a pair of free-standing roll-top baths for a truly romantic and hopefully passionate night.

Food is equally excellent with Michelin-starred chef Charlie Lockley cooking up a storm with organic, seasonal ingredients, many of them home-grown. Definately recommended.

Flodigarry Country House Hotel Isle of Skye

A charming traditional country house hotel in a stunning location on the Isle of Skye. One of the Best Hotels in the Scotland the Best Guide. A gem of a hotel with log fires and great hospitality. Recommended.

Inverlochy Castle Hotel Fort William

A stunning 5 star hotel - the ultimate in luxury accommodation. Impecibly trained staff, and Michelin star quality food. Needless to say, it isn't cheap to stay here, but well worth it if you can. Recommended.

Kilcamb Lodge Hotel

One of the finest luxury country house hotels in Scotland, Kilcamb Lodge is in a stunning location. Awards include  winner of Romantic hotel of the Year 2010, and Rising Star Chef of The Year Commendation 2010. Food is consistently excellent. Can be a little on the pricey side, but well worth it. Highly recommended.

Knipoch House Hotel Oban

A wonderful family-run traditional country house hotel parts of which date back to the 15th century, , in a beautiful part of Scotland, not far from Oban. One of Scotland's Hotels of Distinction. 20 ensuite rooms, with  either countryside views or views over Loch Feochan. Pets are welcome (though you're asked not to leave them in your room) . Excellent stock of malt whiskies, and wonderful food.  Recommended.

The Balmoral A Rocco Forte Hotel

Possibly the most prestigious address in Edinburgh. Once a somewhat boring railway hotel, now an acclaimed 5 star hotel in the very epicentre of the city. Lowest priced rooms are a little dark, otherwise beautiful.

Trigony House Hotel

One of those special hotels that make your stay so  enjoyable,  you'll want to return to time and time again. It's ideal for a relaxing break in the Dumfriesshire countryside, and the staff are friendly and food's excellent. Trigony House Hotel is in the Good Hotel Guide 2010, and is one of Scotland's Hotels of Distinction.

If you like taking your dog on holiday, he/she will enjoy it too!
