Revered Skye hotel now with a Michelin 1 Star for the quality of its food. Visitors are uniformly enthusiastic about Kinloch House's service, tranquility and comfort. The words perfection and our favourite hotel anywhere crop up again in our traveller reviews. Most agree this is the best hotel on the Isle of Skye. Warning: it is not cheap.
Kinloch is located in a magical setting at the foot of Kinloch Hill on the shoreline of the sea-loch Na Dal in Sleat on the romantic Isle of Skye. It is only 15 minutes from the Skye Bridge at Kyleakin – or twenty minutes from the landing point of the Mallaig/Armadale ferry, Kinloch also has 3 boat moorings in the bay in front of the hotel.
The small windows and eccentric rooflines of the two adjacent white-painted buildings at Kinloch, North House and South House, echo the engaging style of the local vernacular. Interiors, however, are distinguished by fine antiques, prints, paintings, and sporting trophies – plus Macdonald family portraits, photographs and treasured mementoes.
Bedrooms, individually decorated in colours and textures chosen to reflect Skye’s distinctive landscape, combine exceptional views with character and comfort. Under the ever-watchful eye of Macdonald ancestors, whose portraits line the dining-room walls, guests feast on the very best of local seasonal produce, while gracious drawing-rooms provide a perfect setting for afternoon tea, pre-dinner drinks and nightcaps.
The Macdonalds are the ultimate hosts, not only allowing their highland hideaway to become yours too, but making every effort to make your stay at Kinloch truly memorable.
