Portlethen is situated seven miles south of Aberdeen. To the east of the town sits three fishing villages of Findon, Old Portlethen and Downies. With a population of about seven thousand this town has flourished well in the last thirty years. The ancient Causey Mounth road lies east of Portlethen, it was built on high ground to be used as a passage to Aberdeen. This passage helped to link the Bridge of Dee to Muchalls Castle and Stonehaven.
The swanky Portlethen in Aberdeenshire is established over the Portlethen Moss Nature Reserve, which was home of Great Crested Newt and the Red-spotted newt. The town has grown a lot by the passage of time and developed a lot.
