Comments One of the best sherrying malts available - the older vintages are outstanding. The swimming pool in one of the bonds makes Bowmore a unique experience! The company is the 1995 Distiller of the Year.

Description Bowmore (pronounced 'beau -more')Distillery is one of the oldest in Scotland, and was licensed in 1779. The distillery uses the traditional method of producing its own floor-malted barley. The water comes from the Laggan River. A fine malt whisky is produced here, relatively light for an Islay malt, peaty but with a balanced sweetness, and is available as Legend, 12-, 15-, 17-, 21-, 25-, 30-, and 40-Year-Old. The distillery offers guided tours and a video presentation explaining the process of whisky making. The admission charge is redeemable in shop, which stocks a full range of Bowmore Islay single malt Scotch whiskies. The tour includes a dram. Across the entrance yard, a former warehouse, gifted to the local community, is now a swimming pool heated by waste energy from the distillery. Directions Off A846, School Street, Bowmore, Islay.
