Book 2 Day Glimpse of Scotland Coach Tour
Day One
Our journey takes us northwards through the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park with it’s lochs and mountains and into the Highlands. After a short break in the little village of Tyndrum our scenic drive continues through Glen Lochy to romantic Kilchurn Castle, which stands guard at the head of Loch Awe. For years Loch Awe was a natural protection for the Campbells of Inveraray against their enemies from the North. Oban is a picturesque fishing port set on the Firth of Lorne. We have plenty of time to discover this bustling town and enjoy the views towards the Island of Kerrera and the Inner Hebrides beyond. From Oban we make our way northwards to Fort William and then through the scenic beauty of the Great Glen. We will drive the entire length of Loch Ness, so keep a careful watch, just in case! We'll make a stop at Urquhart Castle which overlooks the loch and is a favourite location with 'Nessie' spotters. A short drive will take us to Inverness. The stay in Inverness is unescorted.Day Two
This morning there is an excursion to nearby Culloden Moor where Bonnie Prince Charlie's dreams came to a bloody end.
Later there is free time in Inverness for individual sightseeing or shopping before we join our motorcoach for a spectacular drive through the Highlands. From the Spey Valley and the Cairngorm Mountains we travel through Glen Garry to the pretty Victorian resort of Pitlochry. After a break we'll make our way through the gentle rolling countryside towards Perth then onwards to Edinburgh.
Admission to Urquhart Castle and cruise is not included - payable locally.
