Peacefully set with panoramic views over countryside to the Nith Estuary, these detached, single-storey holiday cottages have their own garden and have been furnished and equipped to the STB’s ‘4 Star’ standard. Conheath Gatelodge is a traditional Georgian cottage with many original features, whilst Martha’s Shore Cottage was an original fisherman’s cottage dating back to 1700 - generations of Martha’s artistic family lived here and her father was the stone mason for the farm estate, and cut stone for the owner’s farmhouse. There are lovely riverside walks from the door with abundant birds and wildlife to spot. There are many quiet roads ideal for cycling, and excellent wildfowl salt-marshes surrounding Caerlaverock Castle, 3 miles away. Solway Firth is easily accessible. Dumfries, 3 miles, has good shopping, restaurants, cinema and sports facilities. Sandy beaches, quaint fishing villages, castles and nature reserves within easy reach. Shop/P.O. and good village pub ½ mile.
