Dunbeath Cottage, Caithness - Sleeps 4
Dunbeath is a pretty little village, an old crofting/ fishing community, birthplace of the renowned Scottish writer Neil Gunn, and has a fascinating history. The local Heritage Centre has a vast amount of archaeological and historic interest. Close to the A9, this is a perfect choice for touring with day trips possible to John O' Groats and the Orkney Isles, or to the rugged northwest coast. There is a choice of golf courses within easy reach or you can enjoy bird watching, tennis, pony trekking, hill walking and climbing. Follow the River Helmsdale inland to visit the site of Scotland's own gold rush when prospectors descended on Strath Kildonan in 1869. Nowadays, the clear waters of the Highland streams and lochs attract trout fishermen for excellent sport.
This attractive stone-built terraced cottage provides a warm, well-maintained, comfortably furnished holiday home. The cottage has an attractive sheltered garden with seating on the patio and views of hills, sea and river and there is a sand and shingle beach within 1/4 mile on this beautiful coastline. Off street parking. Shops 50 yards, pub/restaurant 300 yards.
1 double and 1 twin bedroom, comfortable sitting room, fully equipped kitchen/dining room, bathroom with shower over the bath. All electric. Fridge/freezer, washing machine, television, microwave. Bed linen and towels are provided.

"Quiet Village"
The owners live next door but two and were friendly and helpul.The cottage was of a good size and pleasantly furnished.Dunbeath is a lovely little village , handy for touring the noth eastern highlands, has a handy little Spar. Lovely peaceful place and we had a nice stay but the cottage does have twomajor drawbacks: 1.The central heating system was not working and the electric radiators/fires in the rooms were not ideal because the Highlands tend to be cold and they are expensive.Get the central heating working and include the heating cost upfront in an increased rental price. 2.The shower water pressure was almost non existent.Get an electric shower and it will transform the place. Sorry to be seen to be moaning , we did enjoy our stay but it did detract slightly.

"great holiday in dunbeath"
the accommodation was very clean and we were welcomed by the agents who were extremely kind and helpful. the house had everything we needed but the only setback was you had to pay for the electricity used which was a bit scary but at the end of the week we only used 5pounds! the area was beautiful and so many interesting places to see! you do need to plan where to go as time is precious and we only had a week! we will definitely be back tothe same place it was wonderful only we are saving to stay for a fortnight!

"Dramatic coastal scenery"
Cottage very comfortable. Unfortunately weather not so good. Need warm clothes in cottage if cold. Needs a mirror in double bedroom. Would recommend day trip to Orkney from John O'Groats. Dunbeath good centre for touring North Scotland.

very friendly landlord accomodation clean and tidy location excellent for exploring the flow country and convenient for visiting the Orkney Islands over all good at a very reasonable price
