Customer Reviews of The Barn, Rockcliffe - Sleeps 2-3

st comment: My wife and I have been coming to the Barn now since 2004. The fact that we keep returning should be evidence enough that we like it. We live on the edge of the countryside and so are used to quietness but what you get at the Barn, particularly at night, can be like wearing earmuffs - until you hear the odd owl! Beautiful! May 2012.

nd comment: My wife and I have visited this property a number of times in recent years. We liked it from the beginning and a recent ’upgrade’ has done it no harm. It is close to two other properties (a private house and a private holiday cottage), neither of which intrudes to any great extent. The setting is attractive and quiet. We can happily stay in just reading or (occasionally) watching TV; the sitting-out area on top of the car port is particularly attractive when the sun is out. Despite being slightly off the beaten track it offers easy access to Dalbeattie (so-so town), Castle Douglas, (worth more than one visit), and other towns and villages from Dumfries to Stranraer. Walking is good and the ’wild’ animals include deer, red squirrels, sparrow hawks and pheasant. A new pond has been created in the field overlooked by the main windows, and is already attracting waterbirds (ducks!), but as it settles in it should attract more. When the weather is clear you can see the mountains of the Lake District and at night the lights of Maryport and Whitehaven. May 2011.

rd comment: Quite & peacefull location. Good view. Oct 2010.

th comment: Rural setting. Wildlife. Decor and convenience were excellent. Loved the roof terrace. June 2010.

th comment: Well appointed, well furnished, spotlessly clean, lovely veranda area. June 2010.
