Customer Reviews of The Birks, nr. Loch Ken, sleeps 6

st comment: Basis house, but clean and good heating system. Good to wake up in the morning and open your curtains to about 20 sheep looking back at you in your garden. Would recommend this cottage as a great base to explore the galloway forest. Great walk from the property itself stunning views in every direction. Wanted to book again for the may half term, but booked up would visit and stay here again. Oct 2011.

nd comment: The cottage was lovely. Very clean the bed was so comfy. Enclosed garden - my dog was big but if you have a small dog he could get out. The views were lovely. The little tea room was great, people were very friendly. I would go back again with pleasure. Only seen owner once all week and the weather was good. July 2011.

rd comment: The cottage really dog friendly, with 2 x Airedales life can be a bit hectic. No immediate walks on doorstep as cows and bulls in fields but check your Galloway Map and lots of places to go within 4-6 miles for forest walks. Loch Doon not far away some good walks there.Hotels and Pubs - not many around and not within walking distance but when you find one normally dog friendly. July 2011.

th comment: The cottage is spacious and is in an excellent peaceful location with easy access to the river. The village, with shop and post office, is nearby. Good location for visiting Loch Ken and following the red kite trail. Care needs to be taken on the access road which is very potholed. June 2011.

th comment: overall we had a good holiday views from cottage were very good plenty of wild life outside cottage. May 2011.

th Comment This is the second time we have been and have already booked for next year. Nov 2009.

th Comment Very quiet, on a farm track so very few passing vehicles, plenty of space with decent sized rooms. Oct 2009.

th Comment It was just right for our needs. 2 Adults and 2 Springers! Having 2 dogs and the weather raining most of the time, the rear access was ideal for bringing them in and drying them off. Oct 2009.

th Comment Excellent situation, roomy and comfortable. June 2009.

th Comment Lane leading to property could do with repairing, lots of potholes, some very deep. May 2009.

th Comment The property overall was excellent. Good accommodation and superbly positioned in glorious surroundings. March 2009.

th Comment The cottage was beautifully clean and fuel was left for a lovely fire. Owners were delightful and unobtrusive. Beds were heavenly. Scenery wonderful. Forest Park and Loch Doon could have used up two weeks alone. We have a 4-wheel drive, but a car may have struggled on the approach lane. Sept 2009.

th Comment On its own, good views, everything we wanted in cottage, peace and quiet. Sept 2009.

th Comment Lovely location, plenty of peace and quiet, owner never bothered you. July 2008.
