Freswick House

Still inhabited 5 storey house dating from 17th century overlooking the sea. Built by Mowats and sold to Sinclairs. Also called Freswick Castle


The castle/house was built to replace Bucholly castle down the coast and was home to the Mowats. There are some dark stories about the family. It is now a private house which provides home for a variety of activities. It is not open to casual visitors.

Not open to the public but you can take a look and if you very interested in the period, the present owners may be sympathetic to you visiting
