Thomaston Castle

Small ruined castle near Culzean Castle once owned by a nephew of Robert the Bruce. Now ruined but visitable. It is pretty intact in terms of the outside wall, but the interior is ruined.

The castle now sits beside a farm courtyard and has not been restored but remains in pretty good condition externally. Internally, there are plants and trees growing and the structure is not safe.

Opening Times

Not open to the public. Possible walk-up possible

Travel Directions

The castle can be seen from the A719 which passes before it. You can stop further along and clamber across to it without locals noticing. You should be able to turn off and park in the farmyard and then ask if you can visit and inspect.
