Loch Ewe Whisky Distillery

The brainchild of the proprietor of the Drumchork Lodge hotel and a tiny but extremely passionate whisky distillery where string is made to stretch as far as needed and where a small loophole in ancient customs law enabled the project to go ahead (see their webpage for the whole story). Well worth a visit if possible. Reports on the tour suggest that the view of these hardy old natives is that customers are idiots. They make whisky the old way and probably nobody else does!

Dont forget to stay at the hotel which is officially the Top Whisky Hotel in the world and has also won Top Whisky Bar in Scotland several times with its 700 single malts on the gantry.
