Opinion: A fab ice cream place that kids love to go time after time. Popular with kids and their folks - absoblutely wonderful sundaes that would melt in your mouth. Tickle your taste buds with great snacks, evening meals for the whole family and of course the best ice cream in town. From the stables of the ice creams kings of Musselburgh. Packed and crowded most of the time - double true during weekends. BYOB. Open 7 days a week 9am-9.30pm.

Opinion: Delightfully kid friendly place. The cafe has many play areas and wonderful leisure facilities for toddlers. Spacious place with oozing a comfortable and cozy decor. A delightful kids menu - a scaled down version of whats on the main menu. Fresh and tasty food. The place moonlights as a local bistro on weekend nights. 10am-4.30pm, weekends till 3.30pm then 5.30-10pm.

Opinion: Fab Italian joint oozing a contemporary charm. Good food, great service. Great pizza/pasta. Menu covering both kids and grown-ups section. Daily changing fresh seafood menu along with the regular A la Carte menu. A happening place: always packed with events or B'day parties. Fine Wine. Kids can make their own Pizzas. Book in advance. Open 7 days a week from 12noon-10.30/11pm.

Opinion: Centrally located on the Royal Mile. Spacious place catering to both grown-ups and kids. Ambiance that of extravagance; an ideal venue to entertain guests. Child-friendly zone available. Can be hired to hold executive venues. Summer seasons can be enjoyed with alfresco dining options on the open air terrace. Dinner is available only at weekends. Open 7 days a week Sun-Thu 11am-5pm, Fri/Sat 11am-10pm.

Ye Olde Peacock Inn

Opinion: Est in 1767 as a fish-n-chip place the place offers a more diverse menu now. This all round family eatery serves a delectable range of dishes listed in a somewhat adventurous menu: suitable for both everyone from kids to their grandparents. Fresh fish. Good puds. Open 7 days a week. Lunch & LO 9.45pm. Bar till 11pm.

Opinion: Unpretentious Italian cafe restaurant popular with both kids and adults. Family run enterprise which opened for business in 1970 and still going strong. Good food and friendly staff. The place can seat 200 people in total. Outside tables always packed on balmy sunny days. Open 7 days a week 10am-11pm.

Opinion: Very kid-friendly; always going that extra mile to showcase its family friendly attitude. Recently refurbished, and the menu is acclaimed as - 'wholesome, healthy and extensive' [sic]. You can also order half-portions here. They have special offers too to woo children. Eat al fresco on sunny days. Open 7 days a week; Lunch and LO 9pm. Weekends noon onwards.

Opinion: Named after an underground chamber in the nearby Yester Castle which now lies in ruins. Family run place oozing a friendly and informal ambiance. Behind the hotel is a patio and garden that everyone (especially the kids) can best enjoy in summer. Lunch & supper (6-9pm, 9.30pm Fri-Sat)

Opinion: Located within an easy reach from the Edinburgh town centre. In a gorgeous countryside cum canalside setting. Winner of awards and accolades - including one for its kid section. A la carte and seasonal menus. The canal barges can be used to enjoy cruises.
