Opinion: Can taste some of the finest Staples and Scottish cheeses. Uses the best local ingredients to provide some real tasty food which comes in reasonable prices.Located opposite the Leith Police Station. The decor is a mixture of wood and stone. Experienced, polite and knowledgeable staff.7 days, lunch & LO 9pm

Sheep's Heid

Opinion: The Sheep's Heid has been standing below the slopes of Arthur's seat for at least half a millennium now. A popular halt for those who have been trekking the hills, Sheep's Heid serves some of the best pub lunches in the town of Edinburgh . This fine country pub is in fact the oldest pub in Edinburgh. The four sections of the menu include something Scottish (sausages, neeps, salmon.,etc.) Sweet (pies, cakes., etc.) Substantial (chips, burgers, raivoli., etc.) and Smallish (soups, mushrooms., etc. ) . The pub gives a typical homely country feel. A must-visit if you are in the place. Lunch 6.30-8pm, LO 7.45pm. Bar till 11pm/12midnight.

Caley Sample Room

Opinion: Simple, high quality and freshly prepared food made from locally raised products. The bar offers a range of Caledonian ales, wines from around the world besides a dozen of guests. Burgers and steaks are the best choice from their awesome menu which is full of surprises. Though sited in a out-of-the-way location, Caley Sample Room is worth the find. 7 days, lunch & LO 9pm (10pm Fri/Sat)

Ecco Vino

Opinion: The pub has a beautiful Neo-Italian décor and a discreet frontage. The antipasto and the extensive range of wine are the specialties here. The soups, spags and tarts are nice too. The relaxed atmosphere helps you enjoy the real taste of traditional Italian food. Food 12noon-10pm, bar till midnight, 1am Fri/Sat

Starbank Inn

Opinion: Awesome seafood awaits you at Starbank Inn . A must for excellent value-set food along with great helpings. Mince 'n' tatties come as the specials here. The home made itinerary includes haggis dishes and poached salmon. Not surprisingly, it won the Perfect Pub Award in 2003 and the quality has further improved since then and never gone back. 7 days lunch and dinner LO 9pm (Sun all day menu).Bar 11pm,12 midnight weekends

Old Chain Pier

Opinion: The picturesque location of Old Chain Pier, on the waterfront, gifts it an awe-inspiring five star view- one of the main reasons why people choose the pub to dine in. The pub has a well-stocked bar with reasonably priced food. You can choose your specials from the list jotted down on the blackboard. The bar snacks are delicious and worth a try. LO food 9pm.Bar 11pm, 12 midnight Thu-Sat.

Bennet's

Opinion: Good stovies, nice steak pie's and cheap lunches. Boozers love the place and the pub sees a lot of regulars coming in. Huge mirrors cover up the wood panelled walls. Bennet's has a good and pleasant atmosphere. Lunch & till 8.30pm (not Sun)

The Abbotsford

Opinion: Beautifully constructed, the Abbotsford stands on the north side of Rose street. You can have some great helpings of tasty bread-and-butter pudding. The Abbotsford to date gives the best pub lunch closest to Princes. St. Fancier. Lunch and even dinner is served at the upstairs restaurant of the pub. Well-prepared Scottish beef and seafood. LO 9.45pm. Bar till 11pm. Closed Sun.
